Supporting Children & Young People

Parenting; wonderful and terrifying in equal measure! If things go a bit awry in some way for your child and it begins to impact their educational experience it can feel isolating and confusing.

At Elm Psychology, we want to hear the story of your child, work with you, with them, and wherever possible their educational setting. Each child's pathway will be unique and bespoke to them, but may involve some of the following:

  • Parent consultation

  • Discussion with school staff

  • Joint consultation with parents and school staff/other relevant professionals

  • Observation of the setting from the viewpoint of the child/young person

  • Consultation with children/young people

  • Gathering existing information from other professionals’ reports and school assessments

  • Feedback of work and recommendations (written report or consultation)

Supporting Children & Young People

Outside of their home, schools and settings are the place that children and young people spend most of their time. Increasingly staff find themselves working harder and harder to meet the needs of their pupils in difficult circumstances; budget constraints, recruitment difficulties, a cost of living crisis and the long shadow of COVID 19.

Whilst the need increases, local authority EP services are unable despite their very best efforts to provide non statutory, supportive and preventative intervention work.

Elm Psychology works with schools and settings via a consultation framework at all levels of intervention, from individual children, to offering training and drop-in sessions for staff, through to whole school systemic inquiry and change management.

Drop us a line today to see if we can help you and your team.
